Recruiting and talent management have long been a focus at OV. OV’s in-house talent practice is a resource for startups needing to create and develop high-performance organizations, as well as for late-stage companies looking for specific executive talent. OV’s talent function can help with talent and recruiting issues at all levels of the organization, from individual contributor all the way to the C-suite. Specifically, the group selectively executes searches for open VP- or C-level roles at portfolio companies, and also manages a preferred group of retained and contingent search firms to help the portfolio. OV can also refer executive-level candidates to portfolio companies for open roles; offer advice on employee on-boarding and team-building; and assist with developing compensation plans, among other services. OV’s external talent representative, executing senior-level talent searches across the firm’s portfolio. We recommend and introduce outside recruiting firms to portfolio companies, and provides hands-on advice and best-practices counsel to our companies in areas like recruiting, compensation planning and employee on-boarding. Our services include help choosing and interviewing recruiters, advise on compensation and provide market comp data, offer knowledge of all open VP and C-level roles across the portfolio and “Go to” for anything recruiting or HR-related.
OV assists its portfolio companies with a range of marketing and communications issues, both strategic and tactical. The group is a resource for early-stage companies just starting to tell their stories and launch their products, as well as more-mature firms that may want to re-position their brands in advance of a liquidity event or restructuring, or receive counsel during a crisis. Specifically, OV’s marketing team helps companies evaluate outside PR firms and marketing consultants; serves as a liaison with tech- and financial-industry conference organizers; assists with funding announcements and other news; and offers counsel on content marketing, digital marketing and PR/communications. Another big focus for the group is facilitating networking and best-practices sharing at the dozens of high-profile events Battery organizes each year for portfolio-company executives. OV’s marketing program, overseeing firm branding, communications, content and events is led by experienced partners. We work closely with OV’s portfolio companies to provide both strategic and tactical PR counsel. OV’s marketing/communications team leverages expertise in PR, digital and social outreach to help develop and amplify our stories.
